“Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the
mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable
to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.” Romans 12:1
I will never forget my
great-grandfathers hands. Knuckles drawn
with arthritis, hands rough and calloused, and maybe a few disfigured fingers
from a lifetime of carpentry and patternmaking for metal castings. In his 70’s I watched him build his own house
from the ground up. I saw the kindest
and most humble man work hard, give generously, serve others selflessly, while
always putting God first. He did have
the most inspiring help-mate, my great-grandmother. She was just as selfless and sweet, and also
a talented artist. She patiently sat with me as a small child at an itty bitty
table in their little green house and taught me to draw and paint. These two blessings and their example left a
huge impact on my mother Dana and me.
Fast forward to 2007. The bubble burst and the family farm was
unable to support our family in the manner it once did. Mom made the difficult decision to put her
ladies’ ministry on hold and go back to work.
It didn’t take long for her to realize that the workplace is a mission
After working for my grandfather, a
second generation pattern maker, my mother decided she could use the skills she
learned from him to make decorative pieces.
In 2011 our younger cousin Mical was in a fatal accident. His family asked us to make a “M” in his
memory. This was the beginning of our letter
Shortly after making that first
“M,” I asked mom to consider making 3 Initial monograms. So within a few days she had it figured out
and our garage quickly transformed into a paint fume filled workshop. My grandfather saw potential in our
products. He believed in our mother-daughter duo and helped to make our dreams
There are many details between the
garage and where we are now. Mainly we had to use our resources, heritage, God
given talents, a lot of faith and hard work to grow D-Zines and Letters. We are proud to be a 3 and 4
generation family operated business who share a love of art and carpentry. We are honored and humbled the Lord provided
this opportunity for us, that’s why it is so important for us to give 100
percent daily. We work first for our
Savior, then to provide for our employees and their families. D-Zines and
Letters would be nothing without our customers.
For you, we are incredibly grateful.
